Under the 1994 Marriage Act, civil ceremonies
are allowed to take place in buildings other than the traditional
venues that were duly licensed for that purpose. Channels were
granted approval by Essex County Council under the 1994 Marriage Act
on 24th May 1999.
We are proud to be able to offer this facility in two individual
areas. Either in the 18th Century thatched barn holding a
congregation of up to 70, or the 'Trophy Room' in the 14th Century
clubhouse, holding a maximum of 20 people.
The comfort and
convenience of having your ceremony and reception in the same
location makes the choice of Channels popular and attractive to many
couples. The main difference in a civil wedding centres on the
ceremony, which is relatively informal and short (only 10 to 15
minutes long). You may add readings and music to extend this time,
as long as they are not of a religious nature. |
